Budget Allocation
African countries are increasingly adopting a multi-sectoral approach to addressing the complex nature of factors that cause malnutrition. The key sectors that are targeted include health, education, water and sanitation, social protection and agriculture. Increasingly, nutrition sensitive interventions are combined across sectors in order to improve the convergence of different sector interventions targeting the same populations. Such an approach allows addressing the different underlying and direct causes of malnutrition simultaneously. Implementation of this approach however requires adequate budget allocation, to nutrition sensitive and nutrition specific interventions under each sector
