IV. Summary

Ethiopia is showing some progress in the percentage of children suffering from stunting or wasting. Large differences exist between urban and rural areas as well as across regions. The northern regions suffer from conflict, with over 13 million people dependent on humanitarian food supplies. Prevalence of anaemie, for both children and women, is increasing rather than decreasing. Ethopia has a growing economy and it earmarks sizable percentages of its spending on nutrition. Still, the GDP losses of malnutrition are estimated at 16.5%.
